My blog is a way for me to share in the wonder of each day. I know there are others like me that due to medical issues have our days numbered and would like to make the most of them in a positive and gifting way for ourselves and for those around us.

More in the life...

My newest grandson

My granddaughter and her new brother
This is to play catch up on my everpresent life lines since I may have a few new visiters.
I have been doing pretty well physically for the most part, awhile now, but there are aways little nuisances along the way. I had a 'hickman' mainline IV that entered on my chest near my right shoulder and snaked through my aorta to my heart. It gave a continuous flow of the
medication that is keeping my lungs
working and helping to keep the pressure down in my heart. Last month it unfortunately got infected at the site. I went through 3 rounds of antibiotics but nothing could kill the infection. So, they had to remove the line and insert a temporary 'PICC' line in my left arm that also feeds up into my heart. Now I have to stay on a very strong antibiotic and hope the infection goes away.

If it doesn't take care of it soon, before it get's into my bloodstream, they will have to start a new and seperate IV line to feed a stronger IV antibiotic to kill it off for sure. That could take time though and then I'll have IV lines going out both arms.
I also have to wear oxygen
24-7 so it will be interesting trying to take a shower with 2 IV lines and oxygen tubing strung all over. HELP!!!! :)
My grandson and baby brother
If it wasn't so darn frustrating and difficult it would be funny. I will definitely have to laugh if my husband has to become my shower buddy and stand outside of it holding all three lines so they won't get contaminated. Hmm... wonder what he would have to say
about that. At least I'm at home, mostly able to do what I need to day to day and can sit outside and water the lawn with our little bulldog for company. I can play with my grandkids and fix supper for my husband and do so many things I couldn't evenb 9 months ago. No matter all the hassles and limitations, I have so much to be thankful for. I do take a pain medication through a patch but that mostly covers alot of the residual pain and so even though comfort is relative, at least I do experience it at times.
I still hope to touch base with other's with circumstances that prevent freedom in our daily lives due to medical issues. Let me know if you are one of them or know someone close to you that is experiencing troubles.

I have severe arthritis and use a cane but I don't have any lines or IV's, praise the Lord.

I'm glad you have such a good attitude regarding your physical limitations. Attitude may not be everything, but it has a great deal to do with your physical health and outlook on life.

Lovely pictures of your grandkids. They are so precious, aren't they? ;o)

Hope you have a great rest of your week and that nasty infection clears up without needing stronger antibiotics, Reva.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Just so you know this right up front Reva, You are most definately "My Hero". You are a shining light for those of us that have medical problems. Your whole attitude is so uplifting. I deal with pain every day of my life and many things just are not possible for me to do any more. I try not to complain as I know my family feels bad enough that there is nothing they can really do for me as far as easing the pain. But some days I just get so discouraged I could scream.

Hey.... I love the close up photos of the grandbaby and grandbaby and brother. You really have a way with the camera.

Hang in there girl.......

Hi Reva,

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving me a nice comment. This blogging thing feels like writing notes back and forth with friends.

The pictures you posted are great! What beautiful children!

I need to read through your archives to get a better sense of your health situation. But to echo the other comments, your positive attitude really is inspiring.
